![]() They are sure to enjoy the comedy in the idea of suddenly finding zoo animals tucked into bed with you, as well as the punch line of the gorilla stealing the keys all over again at the end. It’s a great book for beginner readers, since the minimal words are short and recognizable, but it’s also great for younger toddlers, as the concepts (mostly saying good night to animals) are relatable to most little ones. As the zookeeper and his wife sleep, with the mouse and gorilla tucked in between them, Mouse wishes Gorilla good night.Īuthor/illustrator Peggy Rathmann packs so much into this delightful book that it’s hard to know what to mention first. She leads all the animals back to the zoo and goes sleepily back home, unaware that she’s being followed by the gorilla (and the mouse).
